Visit Pizzi Dineri, 2800mt & Bottoniera Craters from the 2002 eruption
Daily Departures at 10:30am, 1:30pm and 3:30pm from Piano Provenzana with 4×4 vehicle, driving along the Panoramic path towards the northern slopes of Mountain Etna.
We drive along the ancient craters and the recent lava flows until we reach the Volcanological Observatory at an altitude of 2800mt.
Once at destination, you will be leaded by our guides towards the panoramic point of Pizzi Dineri to admire the breathtaking view of the craters of the Etna that go towards the Ionic Sea, passing by the “Valle del Bove” and the “Valle del Leone”. (Visibility varies depending on weather and volcanic conditions).
Back on the off-road vehicles to reach the lateral craters of the 2002 Eruption. Where you will do a short and fascinating trek along the crater’s edges of the Eruption that has destroyed the touristic area of Piano Provenzana. Boarding the vehicles and return to base.

Read before you book:
- Trekking doesn’t require great preparations on a physical level; it consists of a simple walk without extremely difficult walkways. Nevertheless you have to be prepared to walk on sandy volcanic soil and inconsistent lose ground.

- The total time of the trekking trail will depend on the general pace of the group.

- The route is suitable also for children over 3 years old.
- The route consist of the ascent and the walking along the crater’s edges, this may cause dizziness to susceptible individuals.
- This type of itinerary is suited to people in good physical health, not suffering from particular diseases (cardio-vascular and breathing issues or hypertension).
- Pregnant women who have passed the third month of pregnancy are not allowed to take part to any excursion.
